Why I do this work
Early in my career I sat across from a couple in their late sixties who had done everything correctly. They had saved consistently, avoided debt, and raised two children on a single professional income. What they did not have was any way to know whether the money would last — and that uncertainty had taken over their retirement in a way no spreadsheet could capture.
Their portfolio was not the problem. The absence of a floor underneath it was. Nobody had ever separated the income they genuinely could not afford to lose from the money that could reasonably ride out a downturn. Once we did, the conversation changed entirely. They stopped watching the market and started planning a trip.
That is the whole of it. I am not here to beat an index or predict a cycle. I am here so that the people I work with can stop checking.
How I work
Every engagement begins with a review, not a recommendation. Before anything is proposed, I want to understand your accounts, your tax picture, your timeline, what you actually spend, and what you want the next twenty-five years to look like. Most people have never had someone write that down in one place.
From there the work is deliberate. I explain trade-offs plainly, including the ones that argue against acting. If a guaranteed income strategy is not the right fit for your situation, I will tell you so — that outcome is a perfectly acceptable result of an honest review.
Clients stay with me for decades, which means the relationship has to survive the sales conversation. It is built to.
